MASKED DEVOURER centers around the escapades of a young vlogger who likes to travel to strange and forbidden places and documents her experience on video. She doesn't buy into mysticism or superstition, but her recent trip to a creepy Japanese town quickly changes her stance with what she witnesses in what can only be described as a centipede-like creature wearing an oriental folk mask.
The game takes inspiration from traditional Japanese theater called Noh that delves into urban legends for its monstrosity. It has a wide range of sight and is constantly on the prowl. Your task is to find important clues to what's going on in this town and the creature that haunts it. Be wary of the sound of its footsteps to avoid direct contact and your demise.
What's more, the game features a map with two distinct locations you'll need to explore to find clues. Each one boasts completely different environments, offering a unique experience individually. Sadly, the gameplay is short, and you can expect a runtime of under an hour to play through the entire thing. That said, it's par for the course for the type of game it is.
Japanese horror experience
If you're looking for a new horror game to play with a twist, MASKED DEVOURER is one not to miss. From its distinct story inspired by Japanese urban legends to its atmospheric and creepy gameplay, there's a lot to like about this dark and disturbing adventure.
